A lot of companies give back to the community. What makes BGE HOME’s support different?
Community involvement is important to BGE HOME, because it’s woven into our DNA. We give back to the community in a variety of ways, including sponsoring local events and sports teams, supporting local non-profit organizations and participating in volunteer initiatives.
We’ve been a member of the community for decades, so we think it’s important to give back and be involved in the areas our customers and employees call “home”. We believe by providing opportunities and funding in these areas, we are able to contribute to the long-term viability of our families and the overall community.
Give an example of a partnership that has made a positive impact in the community.
We partner with the Frederick Keys on a program called “Make a Difference Monday”. Every Monday home game during the Frederick Keys’ baseball season, we invite a different non-profit organization to join us at the game. We provide them with tickets to the game, an opportunity to promote their organization on the concourse during the game, conduct a pre-game interview, give a PA announcement during the game and throw out the first pitch.
This program allows us to create a relationship with a variety of non-profits that operate in Frederick County, and it also allows the organizations to get their name out in the community.
Are there any programs for community outreach run by BGE HOME?
Yes, for the past several years we’ve had a program called “A Gift of Warmth”. During the holiday season, we team up with United Ways of Central Maryland and Frederick County to provide “A Gift of Warmth” to families in need. We accept nominations from the community for families who are in need of a little extra help around the holidays and could use “A Gift of Warmth” – a new heating system donated and installed by our team of skilled professionals. We’re currently accepting nominations. If you know a deserving family, nominate them here.
How is BGE HOME getting out in the community this fall?
We have a very busy fall, full of volunteer projects and events. We volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County in September and in October, we sent a team of 20 volunteers to United Way of Central Maryland’s Project Homeless Connect. Plus, we have more events coming up:
- Living Classrooms, Crossroads School Campus Makeover – November
