The following items will help you prepare for your Home Energy Audit:
- Have one year of energy usage accessible (available upon request from your utility provider)
- Note any broken or defective windows and doors
- List any drafty areas that are either too hot or too cold
- Note any areas suspected of containing asbestos
- Remove any obstructions around the water heater(s), air conditioner(s), and furnace(s)
- Clear all ashes or debris from the fireplace(s)
- Ensure all areas of your home are accessible
On the day of the energy audit:
- Close fireplace dampers, fireplace doors, and wood stove air intakes
- Close all windows and exterior doors
